Choosing a bottle of vino can definitely fall under the category of overwhelming. Color, region, varietal — the options are endless, and you never quite know when you pop the cork on a new bottle if you're actually going to enjoy it.
Enter Club W. This company uses a wine personality test to figure out what you like and will ship bottles curated for your specific tastes straight to your door. Even better, the wines average at around $13 each, because chances are if you're not already a wine affionado, you won't want to be spending much more than that.
The test (or Palate Profile Questionnaire) quizzes you on how you feel about different flavors and preferences in general. Everything from how you take your coffee to your level of adventurousness in eating. Based on the Palate Profile, Club W recommends new wines each month and will send a minimum of 3 bottles a month for $45, including shipping.
I gave the questionnaire a trial run, and based on my preferences, I got to try three new bottles of wine that I'd never heard of before! A 2012 9 Sisters Syrah and a 2013 Porter & Plot Pinot Noir were both chosen for me after I specified that I take my coffee with milk and sugar. A third, Man y Mano Albariño has a "zesty acidity" that appeals to the citrus-obsessed.
